Insert Comment(s) Here.....

I saw a post on here about asking any questions and the person would respond. He was joking but it gave me kind of a random idea do actually do it.

So, I am opening up my blog to YOU. Ask me ANYTHING you want and I will honestly answer the question(s) asked. You can ask me anything--but, please, keep it somewhat appropriate!

Okay.....shoot.

Privacy Invasion or simply Safety Precaution?!

Okay...So, how many of you have heard about this latest topic among flying? In my opinion, I feel that some people are making it a big deal. I mean, if it is helping with protecting myself and everyone else while flying on an airplane--who cares?! It's all for safety. It's not like they are trying to purposely and specifically invade your privacy! Yes, it is a bit private and personal--but, come on, as the old saying goes...wouldn't you rather be safe than sorry?!

I don't really know the statistics of how this can prevent people from boarding planes with explosives on their body's or w.e; but, I am sure these scenarios WILL prevent terrorism and other potential problems at least a little bit. After the shoe bomber and the underwear bomber dude...Unfortunately, I feel that these pats downs and screenings are a must. We can never be too safe post 9-11. After all, would you really want another attack to occur or be on a plane with a bomber on board?

I know we can never officially prevent this situations; but, we can at least do our best in preventing cases and I don't see the harm or big deal with the full body scans and the pats downs....As long as they are kept professional and appropraitely conducted, there shouldn't be an issues.

Your thoughts?

The Real World: Dartmouth.

Yikes.....Just registered for my last semester of college. I am now starting to realize “The Real World” is less than a year away and it kind of feels like the walls are closing in on me. Oh, how "The Real World" is creeping upon me fast. I know it is going to happen sooner than later; but, man…Where the hell did time go?! I remember sitting in kindergarten learning about colors, numbers and shapes!

I guess now that my next semester is all (finally) set and stoned—having classes on Tuesdays and Thursday I am feeling actually pretty excited about the future after graduation. Even though it is a bit nerve wracking knowing what lies after graduation, I am going to be very excited to be done with classes, homework and studying for a while. I am, however, going to miss the fun, friends, parties and those few AWESOME professors.

Knowing that graduation is pretty much around the corner, I have already started to browse around looking at various news stations to see what kind of job positions they have open and what the requirements are. Let me tell you though, it already seems very stressful! This is much more complicated than I thought. I am just hoping that with all of the internships and personalities I have met over the past years, sooner than later, I WILL get a decent job. Obviously, I know this is most likely going to come after working a position that is not the best. But hey, we all have to start at the bottom sometime or another and work the way up.

The good thing about me is, I have always been a proactive kind of person who pursues things persistently until I finally get the good results.

Anyway….I guess life after college might not necessarily be a bad thing after all. Yeah, so what if I am going to get older, going to have more responsibilities and bills, etc. I know that someday, I will have a job as an Investigative Reporter for one of Boston’s TV news stations. Trust me, I will continue to apply until I get the spot. It’s the only way I am going to get where I want to be with my career and my life.

You are now cleared.

So, as most of you are aware, I registered for classes earlier this week. Well, attempted too, anyway. Turns out that the night I was eligible, when I attempted to do so, the system was not letting me register. Apparently, when I emailed my advisor, who is also the Communication Department Chair, he told me that he had forgotten to clear me into the system that allows me to register. Now, I think anyone would be pissed—no matter what their class standing is. However, I, as a SENIOR, was extremely frustrated and pissed because 3 out of the 4 class I planned/needed to take in my last semester of college ended up getting filled just in the night seniors registered. So, when I saw that this had happened, that only fueled the fire that I had going in me. It has been a while since I was as pissed as what I was that night. Having been up since 4am that day did NOT make things easier for me either—I was very tired had a migraine and was stressed. So, basically, I stayed up that day for almost 24 hours all for nothing!!
After trying to register for about 30 minutes, I finally gave up and emailed my advisor who actually emailed me back the following and told me he had forgotten to clear me into the system. Seriously?! I wanted to kill him. Once he finally did clear me in the system I did immediately try to register for my classes only to find that 3 classes I needed were booked. One of those classes being my senior seminar course needed for me to graduate this May. I then went back to my advisor and reamed his ass. I demanded that he let me into those courses and especially the senior seminar—since HE was the professor. Even though I will probably get hell from him now, he finally did register me into those 3 classes that I missed out on and told those professors to allow it.
I am just glad it all worked out. I would have been really pissed should things not have worked out as planned and kept me from graduating in May. But, really…How the hell did/can he forget to clear me in the system?! I mean, I understand he deals with a lot…but, jeesh...Talk about slacking!!!

What The F*@k!

Ok so obviously a major source for news is television news. When there's an error at the station, it can mess up the entire newscast. Here are some (hilarious) examples of news bloopers that make no sense or are just ridiculous:

Think they should be fired?! haha

Missile Fired?!

Last night, I was watching the news and saw this story about a mysterious vapor trail that was spotted off of the southern coast of California. Now, my first reaction was, hmm…are we under attack or something? I mean, at first, it does kind of look like a rocket or missile going through the sky. The very first answers was that it was “more likely caused by an airplane than anything else,” according to a senior military official. Yet, another official said authorities are continuing to investigate to rule out a possible missile launch.

This possible missile (or plane contrail) just happened to be caught on a helicopter camera in California. The contrail caught on video by a news helicopter “was more likely caused by an airplane than anything else, because the other possibilities of rockets or missile are turning up negative,” the senior military official said. But, according to a US Defense Department official "a missile has not been ruled out.” The US Strategic Command (Stratcom) and US Northern Command (Northcom) have both been asked to “count noses,” or ensure all missiles are in their arsenals. The official did not rule out the possibility that a missile could have been launched as part of a covert operation.

Now, based on all of this information above, what I have seen from watching the actual clip and analyzing this situation a bit more, I feel that this IS simply just caused from a plane contrail. I mean, first off: a rocket or missile would be going at a MUCH more faster pace than what we see in the video. I feel that the speed in which the object is moving at, is more similar to that of a plane moving in the sky.

As to why the tail looks as if it is moving straight up, I am still not really sure how to explain that. My guess is, that the plane is flying away from the direction of the helicopter camera, which, correctly if I am wrong, can create an illusion that the plane is actually moving straight up, versus away from the camera, as it really is. I mean, we have seen this before when we look at plane contrails before...haven't we? I'm pretty sure I learned something about this in like 8th grade science class.

Plus, according to ContrailScience.com, (which is a website that debunks conspiracy theories linked to contrails,) the sighting was an optical illusion. It said a "contrail streaming horizontally from the exhaust of an approaching aircraft can look like a vertical missile shot if the end of the plume is hidden by the curvature of the earth."

SO, I my opinion, I feel that is true and people got worried over nothing. What are your thoughts on this possible missile launch?

Wheel of Fake Fortune?

So, I know a blog about this has already been posted. I don't want to copy the previous blog post; however, as a dedicated viewer of Wheel of Fortune, I decided to write my own about this particular subject. Mainly because I find it rather strange and fake.

Now, I was watching this the other night when this event happened. My first reaction was absolutely ridiculous. I simply could not believe that someone could solve a puzzle with just ONE letter on that huge board! I am not going to lie, I watch Wheel of Fortune on a daily basis and have seen some pretty weird and interesting things on the show; but, I think this definitely makes the top. When this women solves this puzzle so nonchalantly when she only has one letter on the board, it was a little hard for me to believe right away. I feel like something behind the scenes is going on somehow. I mean, I know it's probably hard to cheat on this show; but, come on---you gotta admit, this does seem a bit crazy and fake...No?

When this woman spun the wheel, she was in last place. Then, just because "it's a prize puzzle" she spins like 900 bucks and wants to solve with ONE letter on the board?! Hmm....After hearing her talk about her experience on this show, I really get more suspicious of this situation. I mean, is it really possible for someone to really even know the puzzle BEFORE any letters are up?! I am really good at solving the puzzles when I watch...but, never have I solved the puzzles with only ONE letter. I think something seems a bit fishy.... I don't know. Maybe it is just me.

Now, my question to you is....How do you feel about this? Do you think something was rigged? Do you think it is possible? Do you even care? Please, drop a line with some feedback.

That's so NOT "retarded."

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I appreciate that people can understand where I am coming from and my point of view.

I have ALWAYS hated when I have heard people say things like "yeah, my laptop is being retarded" or "stop acting like a retard" because they are using the word totally out of context. I also had a brother (Josef "Jo-Jo" or "Joey") who had cerebral palsy from the day he was born 'til the day he sadly passed away at the age of 4. My parents knew from day one that Jo-Jo wouldn't live too long and would never be able to speak or walk. However, he did live longer than what doctors predicted. He would have been 29yo Nov 2. May he always rest peacefully in the arms of God and all of His Angels.... 11/2/81 - 4/2/86. Gone from home; but, certainly not gone from our hearts.

Growing up, my parents have always taught me not to use that word they way tons of people do in today's society. I find it rather offensive, rude and ignorant because people really need to look up the definition of the word. It does NOT mean stupid, dumb, etc. Yes, it IS a term to mean someone is slow or impaired--but, due to mental or physical disability that unfortunately they can't help much. In actuality, many mentally and physically disabled (or, as people call them-retarded) people are in fact very smart people. They just cannot use their brains and muscles on their own. But, again, it's not their fault.  In fact, ever since I can remember, if I heard someone use the word out of context, I would and still tell them to shut up and not use that word. I then explain why. Some get all defensive about it and tell me that I'M wrong (yup, I'm wrong)...others listen to me and see my point (which I wish would happen more often). Unfortunately, I still hear this word used out of context at least once a day--straight up, no lie. Which reallllly pisses me off.

First off, your computer, car, iPod, cellphone, etc. cannot be "retarded". Why can't you just say slow, broken, weird, etc. Second of all, please think before you speak--you could be offending people around you--such as someone who is disabled. Third off....Do you really listen to how lame you sound when you use the word?! Because honestly, (IMO) you make yourself look foolish and it makes you sound ridiculously rude and ignorant.

Now, what I am also pissed about is, while I absolutely LOVE those commercials about saying "Oh, that's so gay" because they are a great way to show people how using another word (gay) out of context is wrong, as well. But, why isn't there any about the word retarded??? I mean, isn't it just as offensive and wrong as using the word gay? Isn't the word retarded used just as much as gay? I mean, someone help me out here because I personally get offended by this word.

So, for those of you who may use the word retarded or retard in sentences mentioned above--Please stop. It's wrong, inappropriate and just downright ignorant. Think before you speak, please.

I just hope that after reading my post people can spread the word more about the word "retarded" and "retard" and I hope the readers of this post will speak up the next time they hear or see someone using the word inappropriately and making fun of someone who may not be "perfect." After all, they really should learn that NO ONE is perfect and EVERYONE has some kind of "difference" about them that may or may not be a bad thing. In most cases, it's NOT a bad thing. So, if you hear it--speak up and tell them what they just said is wrong.

It's that time of the year again!

Can you believe it? We are already in November! This means a lot of things for college students. 1.) Registration for spring semester, 2.) Veteran's Day is soon. 3.) Thanksgiving Break is soon, as well. 4.) Finals and Winter break are going to be here before you know it--which means, so won't the Holiday Season and snow. Joy Joy...

Now, I am looking forward to the Holiday's, since I love the time with family, friends, the lights, sights and sounds of this time of year. However, this year, I am extremely poor. Now, also (as every year) I have 5 birthdays in the month of November and 1 in December--then Christmas. So, this time of the year realllly takes a toll on my wallet. These birthdays are my brothers, fathers, brothers g.f., sisters b.f, sisters (all in Nov.) and then my moms in December. So, they really are all birthdays that I probably should give at least a card! haha It is the thought that counts (thank God) and I am just really glad my family knows that I am running low on funds this particular year.

But, man....I still am amazed at how fast this semester/year is going!!! Sometimes, I like it. Other times, I hate it. But, in the end, I am really looking forward to the holiday parties, family, fun, food and (yes, I'll admit) even the presents! haha But, come on...who doesn't enjoy the presents?! lol

So, I'll leave you with this...What is YOUR favorite part about the holidays? Let's see how many different answers we can get. Mine are all of the ones listed above. The biggest favorite of mine: the lights, music and just being with the family....and ok, the food, too!

Your turn....

Social Life After Death.

I was browsing the news today and found this interesting story. It is about how when a young person dies and a memorial page is creating on facebook, some people are low enough to post nasty and down right immature lowblows on the page about the person who passed away. Recently, that has happened, as you can read about in the article above. Now, the parents of the young victim want facebook to take action--as I feel they should.

I understand that facebook cannot monitor every single profile page of the millions of pages out there; but, I feel that there is a way to prevent things like this from happening somehow. I mean, there has to be some kind of way for facebook to automatically scan comments that are offensive or whatnot.

To begin with, I can't even believe that people are idiotic and horrific enough to post offensive and negative things on memorial pages of young people who have just passed away. Seriously, have some people lost all cooth?  I just don't understand how anyone can be so heartless and stir up trouble and cause more grief to families who are already grieving too much over the loss of a family member of theirs. It really breaks my heart to see stories like this. I mean, come one, we never would have hear or read about anything like this 10 or even 5 years ago. Has society lost all respect for others? I think so. I honestly feel like some people these days don't have any respect for each other anymore--which is sad.

I hope that (since I am sure this isn't the first case) Facebook does continue to improve its' efforts to control situations like this from occurring more and more. It is time that things like this be put to an end.

I truly feel sorry for this family (and the others) for having to deal with something so low like this during a time in which their hearts are broken enough from losing a young loved one.

Your thoughts?

Skeletons in The Closet.

As Sara has stated in her blog, I too, feel that this article about Christine O’Donnell and her one night stand is simply a sad attempt at someone’s 15 minutes of fame and down right pathetic. Ok. We all have skeletons in your closets. I mean, yeah she may have done something lame while intoxicated; but, I mean, come on…we all have done it at one point in our lives. As the article says, this incident happened three years before she ran for office. I’m sure she put it behind her and would never think that it would come back to haunt her; but, unfortunately it did. Truthfully, I really don’t care about her past and what she did. My main goal is to focus on her views, promises and beliefs as to what she plans to do as a politician—regardless of what she did one time when drunk or not. As I said before, EVERYONE has a past that he/she regrets. It is all about learning from the mistakes in the past to build a better future, which, it seems Christine is trying to do.

I feel that sometimes, the media tends to focus on political candidates (as well as celebrities) private lives and (as Sara has mentioned in her blog) not enough on where they stand on current events and issues. I totally agree that if this had happened this past Halloween when she was running for office, of course this story might be a little more interesting because it would be during her time running for office, and is in the present.

We all have skeletons in our closets, don’t we? No one is perfect, no matter whom you are. Period. Even though I feel that some people like to think that the people they see on TV such as celebrities or politicians are perfect, in reality is, that is not the case. I mean, I understand they are public figures and all and as a result should be positive role models or what have you; but, we still need to have limits of how much we should invade their private lives. Unless it 100% effects us audience members, the media/people should NOT get involved or bring it up. This is why I am not a fan of tabloid news…I really don’t care if Michael Phelps was caught with weed, that is HIS life. He can do what he wants. Yes, I understand that he may be a public figure that someone wants idolizes or whatever; but, it should be up to the parents to say to they kids “what Michael did is wrong and you should not do.” I mean, at least Michael came out and admitted to it and spoke how he was wrong and made a poor decision. So, as far as I am concerned, he did the right thing—and that is what the people should be focusing on.
